Learning to drive with the Andy Lyons School of Motoring

Learning to drive is definitely challenging and can be quite daunting. The Andy Lyons School of Motoring aims to make learning to drive relaxed and fun. This helps our students reach the required level of skill as quickly as possible.

Driving Lessons

Whether you haven't driven before or you want to build on previous driving experience, Andy can tailor a course of lessons that suits your needs and budget. Andy will recommend a length and frequency of lessons that best suits your needs. Andy will be happy to answer any queries that you have about organising your lessons.

The Theory Test

The Car Theory and Hazard Perception Test was introduced in July 1996 and candidates booking their Practical Driving Test must have a current Theory Test Certificate. The theory test consists of multiple choice questions and Hazard Perception video clips. For further information about the Theory Test and Practical Test, visit the Theory Test Information Page of the DirectGov website. Andy will give practical Theory Test help during driving lessons and also has helpful CD ROMs available to borrow at no cost to you.

Pass Plus

For newly qualified drivers, Pass Plus develops your advanced driving skills. The course lasts a minimum of six hours and covers various road and weather conditions. Having the Pass Plus qualification can also reduce your insurance premiums by a fairly significant amount, as well as making you a safer, better and more confident driver. For more information on Pass Plus, please see the Pass Plus Website for more information.

The Car

The Car Andy regularly changes his teaching car in order to make sure his students get the best start to their driving life. Currently, Andy uses a late 2007 Renault Clio 1.5d CDI, with Manual Transmission and Power Steering. The car has been fitted with duel controls to ensure your safety as you are just starting out.
